Natural Resource Management corpsmembers have been doing some amazing work at Alum Rock Park, primarily consisting of fire fuel reduction and invasive species removal. The ecosystem is incredibly delicate, and preserving its rich biodiversity is the primary goal of the project. Some of the main invasive species found in the park include Italian thistle, yellow mustard, and purple star thistle.
Supervisor Izaiaz B. adds, "I really love this project because we get to apply our knowledge and new skills in preserving the park. It’s really natural resource management at work! We have hiked so much already, but the views are worth it. Everything we remove and take out really makes a big difference!" Keep up the great work!
A Resilience crew, led by supervisor Angel R., has been working hard at the Mayfair Community Garden. They are removing overgrown vegetation so that the community members have a more lively and beautiful space to grow their produce. Shout out to Angel and his team for their dedication to making our community more resilient!
