This week’s photo features some Environmental Projects corpsmembers, led by Supervisor Jake R. They have been working alongside CalTrans in an effort to improve roadside safety and visibility along Highway 85 in Mountain View. The majority of the work has involved raising low-hanging branches and removing dry vegetation along the roadway. Shoutout to Jake and his team for their amazing work!

Last Friday, our second-ever wildland firefighting cohort received training from the California Invasive Plant Council (CAL-IPC). They learned the key differences between native and invasive species, including how invasive species contribute to wildfire intensity and frequency in California. They also learned about the importance of keeping your tools clean in the field to ensure you don't spread any diseases between plants. Thank you to the CMD staff for organizing the training, and to all of the special guests who made it possible!

Our wonderful California Climate Action Corps (CCAC) fellows, Calla T., Leslie T., and Ally C., have officially completed their term with SJCC+CS and have left a huge mark on our community. From keeping our community markets stocked to organizing fun and educational volunteer events, we appreciate everything they have done for our organization! Thank you, Calla, Leslie, and Ally, for all the hard work — we wish you the best in all of your future endeavors!
The Charter School had its 1st Community Meeting of the school year on Wednesday! Students beat the heat with popsicles, took home some amazing prizes generously donated by staff, and even celebrated their very first graduates of the school year (see below)! They also had the opportunity to reconnect with the CS team and learn more about the campus resources available to support them. A huge shout-out to everyone who came together to make today a fun, memorable, and meaningful experience for our students — see you next time!
