AMERICORPS AWARDS

Congratulations to the corpsmembers who have completed their term of service for AmeriCorps! Because of your commitment and hard work, our community and surrounding environments have positive improvements. Thank you and keep up the awesome work! 

CALIFORNIA NATURALISTS FIELD DAY

The Summer California Naturalists cohort visited UC Santa Cruz this week. They learned about different land management tactics and the history of the Cowell Ranch Hay Barn. At the farm, they observed a variety of vegetables, including kale, onions, winter squash, and strawberries. They also learned about innovative experiments using cacti for electricity, where cacti serve as solar panels, storing energy during the day to be used as a power source. At the end of the day, corpsmembers got a chance to try some delicious kale and pick their own strawberries!

REVIEWING NEW TINY HOME MODELS

Last week, corpsmembers met with a designer to review the updated design for the new and improved Tiny Home models! They gave important and helpful feedback on their thoughts and needs based on their experience.

TINY HOME UNITS AVAILABLE

Two Tiny Home units are available for corpsmembers experiencing housing instability or are unhoused. Rent is $500-$800 depending on financial situation. For more information or any questions, contact Jonnie at jdnguyen@sjcccs.org

CHALLENGE OF THE MONTH

Welcome to the challenge of the month! Guess how many candies are in the jar and win some fun Summer prizes. All corpsmembers and staff are welcome to participate.
