This week’s photo shows our Natural Resource Management (NRM) corpsmembers and Wildland Firefighting Pathway participants engaging in CalTrans Roadside Safety Training. From directing traffic with flags to implementing preventative safety measures, they are now well-equipped to take on critical roadway projects. A big thanks to the SJCCCS staff and outside personnel who coordinated this training, and all who attended! We look forward to seeing the amazing roadside work in the future.

Come spend a meaningful morning with our CCAC fellows removing harmful invasive plant species along Coyote Creek. This is a great opportunity to learn about the impact of invasive plants on our local ecosystems — and to take action in helping restore native habitats. Bring your friends, family, and loved ones. All are welcome!

Shout out to NRM Supervisor Robert G. and his crew for their amazing work over the last few weeks. They have been working with the Roads and Airports Department to clean up roadsides and remove dry vegetation, improving safety and reducing the potential for fires. We commend the crew for their flexibility and drive in departing earlier than usual to successfully complete the project.
On Wednesday, we got to welcome back returning Charter School students for the 2025-2026 school year! Over 60 students updated their enrollment paperwork, took their school photos, and received encouraging words. A big thank-you to the Charter School staff for helping make the day a success, and kudos to the students who showed up ready to engage! We can’t wait to see the incredible things you’ll achieve in the year ahead.
