This week’s photo features the corpsmembers and staff who were invited to Family Camp for lunch and a visit to the dedication site honoring Albertano Rocha. They also had the chance to spend time with our two interns, who recently completed their internship terms at Family Camp. A cabin was dedicated to Albertano and, with the help of our interns and one of our Environmental Projects crews, was painted and prepared for the next camping season.
For a chance to be featured on the photo of the week, please email your best pictures to social@sjcccs.org or share your team updates on Slack!

Join Chris N. and other co-workers on a hike into Butano State Park on June 29th, 8:00am to 12:30pm. Hike the Ano Nuevo Trail and explore the edge of the CZU 2020 Burn Scar before moving into the heart of the park underneath the redwood tree canopy. Sections of the trail will have little shade, so please pack sunscreen, hats, and 2 liters of water per person. Slack or Email Chris to RSVP!
Come out on Saturday, July 12th for a meaningful and fun-filled morning with our CCAC fellows at their community food packing event! You'll help pack rescued food for individuals and families in need, while getting a special behind-the-scenes look at the fellows’ ongoing food rescue operations. Huge congratulations to Erick S., Zero Waste's Corpsmember of the Month for June. He has been recognized for his continued hard work, preparedness, and respectfulness towards everyone around him. Great work, Erick!
Earlier this month, Environmental Projects corpsmembers, led by supervisor Dani R., were hard at work at Family Camp! As shown in the picture, the corpsmembers were clearing out vegetation and rebuilding a trail. Thank you to Dani R., Dumonte B., Steven G., Brandon B., Daniel M., Jairon C., and Richard S. for the ongoing efforts and commitment to making positive change to the environment.
This last Saturday, some of our Zero Waste corpsmembers headed back to Calero Reservoir for dock walker duty. Used oil outreach is a crucial part of protecting local waterways and ecosystems. When oil is improperly discarded, whether spilled, leaked, or poured into storm drains, it can quickly make its way into rivers, lakes, and oceans, where it poses a serious threat to aquatic life. Thank you to the Zero Waste crew for educating boaters and working to keep our waterways clean, and congratulations on meeting your survey goal!
On Tuesday morning, Zero Waste Supervisor Luz V. and corpsmember Maonrri C. joined forces with Mission Blue, Refuse Refuse, SF Public Works, and local volunteers for a community cleanup on Leland Avenue in San Francisco. Thanks to their teamwork and drive, the street is now cleaner and safer for everyone in the neighborhood. A huge thank you to Luz and Maonrri for their hard work.
Returning from his four-week internship at Family Camp this month, Jairo C. (right) shared his experience as one of the two first-ever SJCCCS Family Camp interns: "I would describe my time at Family Camp as a wonderful opportunity to connect with and appreciate the local wildlife. I learned how to preserve and maintain various types of plants and discovered the different animals that rely on them for survival." Great job, Jairo!
