Volunteers needed! SJCC+CS is looking for staff and corpmembers that would be interested to participate in a campus beautification project at the Senter campus during the weekend of 10/12/2024 - 10/13/2024. Volunteers will be able to take part in a number of projects that will elevate the grounds and create a welcoming space for everyone at the Corps. (P.S. corpsmembers who participate can earn elective credits or AmeriCorps community service hours!)
Hear from corpsmember Michael V. as he shares about his experience in the Zero Waste program and walks us through the process of collecting E-waste, food waste, and more. Michael brings positive energy to the Corps and makes it his mission to bring smiles while gaining hands-on experience protecting the environment.
The Support Services Team volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank, helping pack about 24,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables for families across San Jose. If anyone is interested in volunteering with them during their monthly excursions, contact Support Services.
Zero Waste corpsmembers recently collected 95 pallets of mixed E-waste items and spent the past week sorting all the materials in the warehouse.
"Special Thanks to Supervisor Oscar and CM Specialists Jose for loading, unloading, sorting and keeping the warehouse clean and organized." - Norma Ornelas, Zero Waste Coordinator
