Event: Zero Waste Saturday on January 20th from 9 AM - 1 PM
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, corpsmembers teamed up with Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful for a creek clean-up at Selma Olinder Park. Over 90 dedicated volunteers joined in picking up trash, debris, and tires to help restore the beauty of our community. Thank you to all the corpsmembers and staff who showed up to make a difference!

Corpsmembers spent a day at Bear Creek Redwoods Preserve earlier this week, where they helped and learned how to restore wetland habitats!
Caltrans and the City of San José teamed up and coordinated a clean-up project. This project was estimated to take a week, but our crews have managed to get it done in three days. Impressive work!

Last year, SJCC+CS had its second graduating cohort of California Naturalists! We had 23 graduates - 4 staff and 19 corpsmembers. The California Naturalist certification course explores the qualities that make California ecologically unique, including ecology, environmental science, land management, and stewardship. The first week of Spring Semester brings us 7 new graduates! Congratulations to Ivan, Viktoria, Monica, Alexis, Bryan, Earl, and Jose!
Steven Millan wanted to give a special shout-out to Natural Resource Management Corpsmember Carlos Ledezma. "Carlos is an outstanding corpsmember who has been posting amazing before and after pictures of his crew's work to our Slack channels. Carlos is also a great team player who doesn't hesitate to show his appreciation to his fellow members and supervisors," said Steven. Thanks, Carlos, for helping support and grow our sense of corps community!
Carlos Ledezma wanted to give a special shout-out to Trail Safety Team Supervisor Robert Guzman. "Robert has imparted numerous lessons and new skills to his crew. He consistently expresses gratitude and encourages his team to take on tasks and leadership roles. He deserves recognition for demonstrating and being an exemplary model of good leadership and hard work ethic! He has made an impact in my life and shown me to be confident and show my leadership skills." said Carlos. Thank you, Robert, for being a great leader!
